Website Development Process
Our website development process is designed to ensure that our clients vision is achieved. Over the years we have determined this process to be the best way to deliver quality websites, on time, and on budget.
- Free No Obligation Consultation with a qualified counselor - this consultation will result in our understanding of your needs and the development of an accurate quote. This really should be done over the phone because only through conversation can we truly come to understand your needs.
- Development of Quote - normally we can come up with an accurate quote after one consultation. If we have to talk with you a few times before delivering a quote, that's ok, there is still no charge for the conversations. We will deliver the quote in PDF format so anyone in your organization can view it.
- Follow up of Quote - we will call you and email you after a couple days to ensure that you have read the quote and to answer any questions you may have. We will continue to follow up with you until we have an answer and can move forward.
- Payment - you have chosen us as your web developer (thank you!) and we will send you a payment form or online payment request. Website projects are paid 50% up front, and 50% on completion. Projects under $999.99 are normally paid in full.
- Customer Content - after you have paid you need to gather all of your content (such as text and photo's) and send it to us - preferably by email. You'll need to spend some time determining what pages you want on your site (home page, products, support, contact us, etc.) and what content you want on each page. Detail what photo's you want to appear on each page, if any. Time spent here early on will prevent delays down the road.
- Project Blue Print - once your counselor goes over the information you have sent in to us, they will develop a website design blue print which will detail all aspects of the site: content, features, layout, flow, etc. You will need to sign off on this document once you agree that it meets your needs. If for some reason things have changed at this point and the project pricing no longer meets the work being done then we will revise the project cost and charge accordingly. This is the last point where a refund can be issued of the deposit.
- Account Information - if you have a domain name, hosting, or pre-existing website, we will need all login information to your accounts PRIOR to starting design work. It's important that we know what we are working with from the moment we begin. Your information is always confidential, and secure, with us.
- Let Development Begin! - now that we are all agreed on what is expected we will start the development process. You can expect to see a website design mock up within the first week.
- Feedback - we expect to receive constructive feedback on the initial design within a day or two of sending it to you. The communication process should always be timely between you and your counselor. If there are delays on either side, it will ultimately delay the project.
- Design Revisions - We will do several revisions to the main design of the site to ensure that it will match your vision. Once we have agreed on the design of the site we can begin coding the web pages.
- Coding Review - At this point you can view a live sample of the website, with all, or most, of it's functionality completed. You'll be able to determine if the site FLOWS the way it should and if all the content is where it should be. Please note any errors and let us know right away so it can be corrected.
- Completion Agreement - once you are satisfied that the site meets the objectives set forth in the project blueprint you will sign a completion agreement and pay any remaining amount due on the account.
- Taking it Live! - after final payment we will start the process of making the site live. This usually entails modifying DNS settings (that's like your mailing address on the web) and can take a few days before your site is fully live and functional.
- Your new website is now complete!
