Accept Credit Cards
Accepting Credit Cards is an essential part of doing business online. As a business owner online, you have four major things to consider when deciding how to take and manage payments online:
1.) Number of transaction per month (initially)
2.) Average value of each transaction
3.) Average profit margin per transaction
4.) What customer information do you need to keep
We will do our best to help you accurately forcast that information, and then use your answers to dermine which of the two solutions below is the best for your particular situation:
1.) Form processor - such as Paypal, WorldPay, or similar. Customer is taken from your site to the processor's secure site where the cart is hosted, and the transaction information is held. The only information you receive is sent from the form processor to your email as confirmation of the transaction. This type of payment solution is usually for a business where a limited amount of transactions are expected and the dollor amount per sale, and the monthly sales amount, is relatively small. You'll usually pay about 3% of each transaction and a small per transaction fee. This is also usually the cheapest type of solution to employ when first launching your online business.

2.) Payment Gateway and Merchant Account - such as E-OnlineData and Authorize.Net. This is a more complex setup and usually has about a $50 per month overall fee structure. However, the advantages of setting up an actual Merchant Account and using a Payment Gateway to process payments has many, many advantages. Your percentage paid per transaction and the per transaction fee are usually less than Paypal and security is much, much better. Plus, you can keep customer data in your own database if you want.
